Does anyone know if the vikings actually worshipped Odin?

I mean I know a lot about Norse mythology but technically ragnarok already happened right? They have myths of what happened at ragnarok and obviously they didnt happen while the vikings we alive? Did they always worship in a post ragnarok manner? Or were they stories of what would come to be? I'm confused??
