Aren't the gods the provocateurs of their enemies in Hindu and Norse mythology?

I don't know about the indra stories but as far as norse mythology I only remember the frost giants wanting to freeze the entire world for their own use. not the land of the gods but our world. The gods were said to visit our earth but their dwelling place was elsewhere. If the frost giants hated only the gods they would be attacking only the gods. They appear to hate all life that isn't them. My theory is that they allowed themselves to overpopulate and were seeking to expand. It's sad to think but reproduction can sometimes be an evil thing. Creating offspring when there are no means to support them shy of murder and theft can only be an act of evil even if the child is not it forces a very evil situation on the world.
